Elizabeth Clark, MBA

Elizabeth has spent her career removing barriers to opportunity and success for individuals, communities, and enterprises. Her first job was writing policy for the Hon. Douglas Wilder’s history-making gubernatorial campaign; from that administration, she went on to 17 years expanding access to US higher education alongside Bill Royall as Chief Strategy Officer of the country’s leading higher education advancement consultancy. Elizabeth has led in building new markets and launching and developing businesses and organizations — including two universities. She’s secured high six-figure grants, led successful brand and institutional repositioning initiatives, launched and managed products, and more. Leigh Harrison, PhD

Leigh Harrison has worked for the past decade and a half to help philanthropically minded institutions and nonprofit organizations of all sizes make decisions with the long view in mind. A graduate of the College of William & Mary and Cornell University, holding a Ph.D. in medieval studies, he has a special interest in helping clients align their strategic priorities with deeper contexts. His experience includes the National Cathedral (where he engaged closely with dozens if not hundreds of family foundations), the George Mason University Foundation, and work within the University of Virginia foundations consortium on all aspects of campaign planning and communications—including GMU’s $500+ million comprehensive campaign. Leigh’s approach to foundations and philanthropy emphasizes understanding each funder’s unique culture and bedrock commitments. Joy is a dynamic founder, community builder, and author, driven by a passion for advancing social impact. With leadership experience spanning higher education, nonprofits, public policy, philanthropy, and the private sector, Joy brings a wealth of expertise to every initiative she undertakes. A graduate of St. Paul’s College, a historically Black college of Virginia, she is particularly focused on improving health, education, and access to opportunities for women and children. In addition to her extensive background in communications and marketing, Joy has spearheaded systems development at The Graduate School of Virginia Commonwealth University and directed membership and development efforts for the Girl Scouts of Central Virginia, The Branch Museum of Architecture, and Voices for Virginia’s Children. As the founder of Yoga Joy, a multi-site wellness business, Joy creates tailored children’s yoga programs to a variety of preschool and primary school settings. Joy has launched community engagement initiatives for social enterprises, led high-impact events for new nonprofits, and designed strategic programs for corporate and major donors. Lynsie Steele

A champion of local business, Lynsie has spent 20 years helping entrepreneurs build robust concepts through business development, strategic marketing, and grassroots community campaigns. A resident of the Charlottesville community since 2005, Lynsie has focused on craft beverage and food initiatives, local and national nonprofit organizations with a concentration on health and wellness, and culinary education. Her favorite things are working directly with Founders, CEOs, and Owner/Operators to create balanced operational systems that help feed marketing strategy and grow sales conversions, all the while defining a brand for streamlined voice and messaging success. She also has a tremendous passion for nonprofit organizations, and has seen great success in planning and executing fundraising events and campaigns that attract invested stakeholders and meet fundraising goals. Lynsie’s current projects include managing editorial and digital content for The Charlottesville Guide, running marketing operations for a local and nationally celebrated coffee company, Aerial Resupply Coffee, managing Girls on the Run programming for the Greater Charlottesville area, and lecturing at UVA on meal planning, food in media, and healthy eating initiatives. Her areas of expertise include digital marketing, education systems, e-commerce, and business operations. Above all, Lynsie has a deep respect and appreciation for Charlottesville and its residents, and aspires to continue to deepen her connection as a steward for local business owners and community leaders.

Sarah Clark Wood, PhD, CPRS-T

Sarah Clark Wood is a multi-faceted professional whose career spans education, mediation, nonprofit development, research, program coordination, and professional training. Throughout her work in classrooms, courtrooms, campuses, and communities, Sarah’s mission has consistently focused on three core goals: illuminating opportunities, connecting resources, and empowering those seeking transformative growth and change. As an Educational Psychologist and Recovery Specialist, Sarah guides educational, nonprofit, and community leadership in policy and program development, with particular emphasis on behavioral health, recovery, and family support. Her work within and across systems of care helps organizations deepen their understanding of student, family, and community needs; realize existing strengths and assets; and establish expansive, sustainable, internally driven solutions. Known for her positive attitude, collaborative approach, and facilitative skill set, Sarah draws inspiration from the success she found hidden in life’s most confounding challenges.  As coach, consultant, or creator, Sarah has a unique capacity for helping individuals, families, organizations, and communities recover focus, uncover motivation, and discover inherent potential.
